How optimum SLEEP is the best medicine
The 10-Minute Habit: Programming Your Subconscious for Success
As an MBA student and aspiring entrepreneur, my days are often filled with market research, financial projections for ADDY'S RAMEN, and back-to-back lectures. It’s easy to end the day by collapsing into bed and scrolling through Instagram for "10 minutes" that inevitably turn into an hour.
But I’ve been experimenting with a shift in my nightly routine that has completely changed how I wake up and perform. It’s about understanding that the 10 minutes before you sleep are the most critical for your brain’s "programming."
1. The Science of the "Open Door"
When we get ready for bed, our brain waves naturally slow down. We move from the active Beta state of the day into Alpha, Theta, and eventually Delta. During these transitions, the door between your conscious and subconscious mind opens wide.
If you spend those minutes looking at social media, you are letting external images and information dictate how you feel. You are letting someone else "think" for you. But if you use that time with intention, you can literally program your future.
2. The Power of Gratitude
Instead of scrolling, I’ve started spending 10 minutes practicing gratitude. The science is fascinating—practicing gratitude for just four days can boost your immune system by 50%.
I don't just think about what I’m grateful for today; I think about the things I’ll be grateful for when my future goals are achieved. I let myself "play" with the feeling of success as if it’s already happened. By teaching my body emotionally what my future feels like, I’m setting the stage for it to manifest.
3. The Nightly Review
Another powerful tool is the honest daily review. I ask myself:
"When did I lose my patience today?"
"When did I get frustrated or move out of balance?"
"How can I be a better version of Aditya tomorrow?"
By rehearsing how I want to behave the next day, I find that when the same stressors appear, I’m naturally more calm and composed. My peers and professors have even noticed a change—I look and act differently because I’ve chosen to change from the inside out.
4. Attracting Synchronicity
When you invest in yourself before bed rather than in a device, you start to notice "magic" happening. Opportunities, coincidences, and synchronicities start finding you. You move from being a victim of your circumstances to being the creator of your life.
I’ve made it a promise to myself: no screens in the final minutes of the day. Those 10 minutes are an investment in the "Addy" of tomorrow.
Try it for two weeks. Stop letting a device think for you, and start programming your own success.
